About Krane
Krane is an iPhone, iPhone Duo and iPad app that reads business cards and event badges and sends them to HubSpot, Salesforce or Pipedrive. One person, Constantine Malynin in Canada, builds and runs it.
Who makes it
My name is Constantine Malynin. I live in Canada, and I make Krane on my own. I design the screens, write the iOS code, run the server that does the online read, build this website and answer the support email. If you check who makes Krane on the App Store, the seller is listed under my name, not a company.
Why one person matters here
When you write to Krane, I read the message, and I am the person who decides what ships next. There is no ticket queue between you and the person who can fix the bug.
One builder also keeps the app narrow, on purpose. Krane has no account system: you never sign up, so there is no list of users and passwords to leak. Your cards are stored on your iPhone. When you push a contact to HubSpot, Salesforce or Pipedrive, the app talks to the CRM directly with the token you entered; there is no Krane server in between, and the token stays on the phone. Empty fields on a card are never sent, so a push can’t blank data you already have in the CRM.
There are limits that come with this. Krane has no team or volume plans, no web dashboard and no Android version. If one of those is a must for you, Krane isn’t the right fit yet.
What the app sends, and what it doesn't
Three things leave your phone for Krane’s own server.
- The picture of the card or badge, for the online read. Krane reads the card on your iPhone right away and checks it again when you’re back online; that second check needs the image.
- Usage events: which screens were opened and which choices were made, with a random ID per install. No names, no card contents, no email addresses.
- For installs that came from an Apple Ads ad, Apple’s AdServices reports the install. It shows no tracking prompt and reports nothing for anyone else.
CRM pushes don’t go through that server. The app sends the contact straight from your iPhone to HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive or your webhook URL, with credentials that stay on the device.
There is no ad SDK in the app and no third-party analytics SDK. The App Store’s App Privacy label lists Device ID, Product Interaction and Purchase History.
Your backup is one file you keep. Export it from the app and restore it any time, on the same phone or a new one. The privacy policy spells all of this out.
How Krane has grown
I wrote the first code for Krane in November 2024. Since then it has shipped release after release, up to version 2.1.10 in November 2026. Among the things that shipped in that time:
- Offline reading: a card is read on the phone with no signal and checked again online.
- Event badges: QR, PDF417 and Aztec codes merged with the printed name, title and company.
- CRM sync to HubSpot, Salesforce and Pipedrive, plus a webhook for anything else.
- Card after card: lay cards down under the camera one at a time and each is read as you place the next.
- Group of cards: a spread of cards read from one photo, with Krane Pro.
- An interface in eight languages.
Write to me
Write to [email protected]. I read every message myself. If something went wrong, tell me the iPhone model, the iOS version and what kind of card or badge it was; a photo of the card, if you can share it, lets me reproduce the read. Questions about the free plan and Krane Pro are answered on the pricing page.

FAQ
Questions about Krane
Who makes Krane?
I do. My name is Constantine Malynin. I build and run Krane alone: the design, the iOS code, the server, the website and support. The App Store lists me as the seller. Krane has shipped since November 2024, most recently version 2.1.10 in November 2026.
Where is Krane based?
Canada. There is no office to visit; Krane is a one-person app. The app is sold through the App Store, which shows the price for your account and country.
Does Krane sell my data or show ads?
No. There are no ads in the app, no ad SDK and no third-party analytics SDK. Your cards stay on your iPhone. What reaches my server is the card image for the online read and usage events with a random per-install ID, never names or card contents.
How do I contact Krane?
Email [email protected]. I read it myself. If you are reporting a problem, include your iPhone model, the iOS version and the kind of card or badge it happened with.
