What the free plan includes

The free plan has no end date. It includes everything except the features that move cards in bulk or out of the app: events, tags, notes, where you met, reminders, badge scanning, offline reading, duplicate detection, search, the map, Apple Contacts and vCard sharing. The business card scanner page lists every field Krane reads.

Ten scans a week covers a card or two a day: a real estate agent collecting cards at showings, a recruiter meeting three candidates a week, anyone who saves contacts to Apple Contacts and calls from there. A drawer of old cards works too, 10 at a time over a few weeks.

The week is rolling. Each scan uses one of the 10 for seven days from the moment you take it, then that slot frees up. Scan 10 cards on a Tuesday and you can scan again the next Tuesday. Card-after-card scanning, laying cards down one at a time under the camera, stops after three in a row per session.

When Krane Pro pays for itself

Krane Pro is for the week your cards have to go somewhere other than your phone.

  1. 01

A trade show hands you 40 to 300 badges and cards in two or three days. The free plan’s 10 scans are gone before the first coffee break. With Krane Pro there is no limit, and card-after-card scanning doesn’t stop at three. For the pile left on the booth table at closing time, switch the camera to “Group of cards”, spread them out and take one photo; Krane makes a contact for each card in the picture.

  2. 02

If your leads have to be in HubSpot, Salesforce or Pipedrive the same day, CRM sync sends one card, a selection or the whole event. Turn on “Send new scans automatically” before the doors open and each scan goes out as you take it, so the follow-up email can leave before you fly home. For any other system, a webhook posts each card to Zapier, Make or n8n.

  3. 03

If the event team wants a spreadsheet, CSV export gives them one file per event that opens in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets. The trade show lead capture page walks through a show from the first badge to the CRM push.

Monthly or yearly

Choose monthly if your events come in a season: subscribe before the first show, cancel after the last, and your cards stay on the phone in between. Choose yearly if you are at conferences, meetups or showings all year, or if a CRM push every week is part of the job. The yearly plan costs less than twelve months of the monthly plan. Both renew until you cancel.

Monthly

$11.99 a month

A show season: subscribe before the first event, cancel after the last.

Yearly

$95.99 a year

Events all year: less than twelve months of the monthly plan.

How billing works

Billing goes through the App Store, not through Krane. The subscription is charged to your Apple Account and renews at the end of each month or year unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. To cancel, open the App Store’s subscription settings on your iPhone and stop the renewal; Pro stays on until the period you paid for runs out.

There is no free trial and no introductory price. The free plan, 10 scans a week, is how you try Krane before paying.

One subscription covers your iPhone, iPhone Duo and iPad when they use the same Apple Account. If Pro doesn’t show up after a reinstall or on a new device, tap Restore purchases in the app’s Settings.

Krane Pro is not shared through Family Sharing, and there are no team or volume plans yet. Each person on a team subscribes on their own Apple Account. Your payment details stay with Apple; Krane never sees them.

What Krane doesn't do

Five limits to know before you subscribe.

  • iPhone, iPhone Duo and iPad only. There is no Android, Mac, Windows or web version.
  • Encrypted badge codes can’t be read. Some shows lock their badge codes to their own lead retrieval app. Krane still saves the printed name, title, company and event.
  • iOS 17.6 or later. An iPhone that can’t run iOS 17.6 can’t install Krane.
  • No web dashboard. Your cards live on your iPhone and leave it through CSV export, CRM sync, Apple Contacts or a vCard.
  • Free is 10 scans a week. The free plan is a rolling 10-scan week, not unlimited scanning.

FAQ

Questions about pricing

How much does Krane cost?

Krane is free for 10 scans in a rolling seven-day week. Krane Pro is $11.99 a month or $95.99 a year in the US; the App Store shows the price for your account and country. Pro adds unlimited scans, group scan, CSV export, CRM sync and automatic sending of new scans.

Is there a free trial of Krane Pro?

No. Krane Pro has no trial and no introductory price. The free plan is the way to try Krane: 10 scans a week with events, tags, notes, badges, offline reading and Apple Contacts, with no end date. When you need CRM sync or more scans, subscribe from inside the app.

What happens when I use my 10 free scans?

Krane tells you the week’s scans are used up, and you can wait or subscribe. Each scan counts for seven days from when you took it, so the oldest one frees up first. Cards you have already scanned stay open: you can still search them, tag them, add them to Apple Contacts or share a vCard.

Do I keep my cards if I cancel Krane Pro?

Yes. Your cards are stored on your iPhone, not on a Krane server, and cancelling doesn’t remove them. When the paid period ends the Pro features stop: no CRM sync, CSV export or group scan, and scanning returns to 10 a week. Everything already scanned stays searchable and can still go to Apple Contacts.

How do I cancel?

In the App Store, not in Krane. On your iPhone open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, choose Krane and tap Cancel Subscription. Do it at least 24 hours before the period ends to avoid the next charge. Pro stays on until the period you paid for runs out.

Does one subscription work on my iPhone, iPhone Duo and iPad?

Yes, when both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account. Install Krane on the second device and, if Pro doesn’t appear, tap Restore purchases in the app’s Settings. Cards don’t move between devices on their own; use the backup file to carry them over.

Why does the App Store show a different price?

Apple sets prices per country and currency. The figures on this page are the US prices; the App Store shows the price for the country of your Apple Account, and that is the amount you are charged. Check it on the subscription screen before you confirm.

Is there a team or company plan?

Not yet. Each person subscribes to Krane Pro on their own Apple Account, and there is no volume price. A team can still share one list: export each event’s CSV, or set every phone to send new scans to the same HubSpot, Salesforce or Pipedrive account.

Can I share Krane Pro with my family?

No. Krane Pro isn’t offered through Apple’s Family Sharing, so a family member’s subscription doesn’t carry over to your Apple Account. The free plan works on every iPhone, iPhone Duo and iPad without a subscription.

Do I need a Krane account to subscribe?

No. There is no sign-up and no Krane account. You subscribe through the App Store with the Apple Account already on your phone, and the App Store handles payment, renewal and cancellation. Your cards and CRM tokens stay on your iPhone.
